Background

Original attachment consisted of countersink head machine screws with star lock washers into roll formed tapped extruded holes. The screw thread was nylon patched for additional security. The star lock washers would crack and fallout during service resulting in loose door locks and also damage the paint finish which lead to rust and stains.

Solution

An M6 TAPTITE II® CORFLEX®-‘I’ thread forming screw into a non-threaded extruded hole. The need for the additional locking devices was eliminated due to the inherent prevailing torque of TRILOBULAR™ thread forming screws.

Customer Benefit

In-place cost savings were realized due to eliminating tapping of the extruded holes, nylon adhesive and star lock washer. Using TAPTITE II® CORFLEX®-‘I’ screws also lowered service and warranty costs and improved the lock assembly security.
