Background

Customer experienced cross threading, contaminated nut threads and assembly damage due to necessary rework.

Solution

The standard machine screw with nylon patch was replaced by a 7/16-20 CORFLEX-I TAPTITE 2000 fastener.

Customer Benefit

The use of CORFLEX-I TAPTITE 2000 fasteners in place of machine screws eliminated the need and cost of the nylon patch. TAPTITE 2000 fasteners form their own threads therefore eliminating any cross threading and contamination in the nut threads. TAPTITE 2000 fasteners also allowed for more accurate component location in the robotic assembly, provided enhanced joint integrity and security and reduced the return of seat belt assemblies for bolt replacement.
