Background

This assembly was to be automated but alignment of components required hand starting of bolts to avoid cross threading and scrapped suspension forgings.

Solution

The current machine screws were replaced by M12 x 45mm TAPTITE 2000, CORFLEX-I fasteners.

Customer Benefit

The automatic machining line is usually limited in output/capacity by the slowest operation which is usually the tapping and thread cleaning operation. TAPTITE 2000 CORFLEX-I fasteners allowed full automation to be achieved, eliminating the tapping and hand starting operations. The elimination of tapping and hand starting increased the production of assemblies and the output from the machine preparing castings.
